“I speak not for myself but for those without voice… those who have fought for their rights… their right to live in peace, their right to be treated with dignity, their right to equality of opportunity, their right to be educated.” - Malala Yousafzai
Fairness, justice, respect – these things matter to me. Equality was in my heart from a young age. I am a huge believer in the goodness of the human spirit. Coming home to Guernsey four years ago, I wanted to do something different, to give something back. When I met Shelaine Green and Rob Platts of the GDA, I knew immediately I was on the right journey. The GDA needed a collaborator, an ambassador, someone who could give disabled islanders and carers a voice, someone who could help others to see the responsibility we all have to respect the dignity and uphold the rights of others. I dived in head first, not really understanding the length and the complexity of the journey we are still on, because bringing equality to Guernsey matters as much to me as it does to my inspiring peers.
