I have been a member of this amazing organisation for most of my life, even when I lived in Zimbabwe (Rhodesia), where I was born. I have volunteered for the Guernsey branch for over 35 years. GVS runs two Day Centres, Jubilee House and The Russell’s, managed mostly by volunteers both ladies and men. I have been a GVS volunteer for Meals on Wheels, providing hot nutritious meals to the elderly. We go out in pairs, collecting the meals from the P.E. Hospital and delivering to individuals in their homes. I have also run Darby & Joan and GVS Good Companions Clubs, these being an afternoon of games and socialising, with the voluntary workers providing home baking.
