“Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.” - Frederick Douglass
Being unable to read is a huge stigma for many people and so they try to hide their problem. This hidden disability then blights their lives.
The Guernsey Adult Literacy Project (GALP) was established in 2007 with the aim of helping adults to improve their literacy skills and has, over the past ten years, helped hundreds of islanders to enhance their lives. We make no charge for our services and rely entirely on donations and our own fundraising activities to provide literacy training.
